This month, the 6BT5.9A-GM100 marine engine, sold by Jining Pinbo Import and Export Co., Ltd., officially began shipping to Austria. This export not only marks the European market's recognition of this high-performance marine engine, but also marks a significant milestone for Dongfeng Cummins in expanding into the overseas high-end marine power market, injecting new momentum into China's marine power equipment "going global."
The 6BTA5.9-GM100 marine engine, with its superior performance and reliability, stood out from competing products and successfully won an order from an Austrian customer. This customer is a well-known local marine equipment integrator, long-term provider of power solutions for European inland waterway and offshore vessels. They have stringent requirements for the engine's power output, fuel efficiency, environmental standards, and adaptability to complex operating conditions. According to Jining Pinbo Import and Export Co., Ltd., the 6BT5.9A-GM100 marine engine features an inline six-cylinder configuration with a displacement of 5.9L. It delivers a powerful 100kW of power at a rated speed of 1500rpm, with peak torque exceeding 480N·m. Torque remains stable throughout the common speed range of 1200-1400rpm, making it capable of easily meeting the power requirements of a ship's main generator, emergency power supply, and auxiliary equipment. Furthermore, the engine, equipped with Cummins' next-generation turbocharging system and high-pressure common rail fuel injection technology, reduces fuel consumption by 22% compared to similar domestic products. It also fully complies with EU Euro II emission standards, with nitrogen oxide and particulate matter emissions far below the European marine engine entry threshold, perfectly meeting the dual environmental and energy efficiency requirements of the Austrian and European markets.
"We chose the Dongfeng Cummins 6BT5.9A-GM100 not only because its performance parameters fully meet our needs, but also because of its technical support." An Austrian customer representative stated during the video acceptance that they had learned about this product through market research and peer recommendations. After multiple rounds of performance comparison testing, they found it to outperform European products of the same power range in terms of power stability, fuel economy, and environmental performance. "We look forward to this cooperation becoming the starting point for long-term win-win results for both parties, and we plan to incorporate this engine into our core power supplier network in the future."
Next, we will leverage this collaboration to establish technical service centers in Austria and neighboring countries, providing localized services such as rapid repairs and parts supply. Furthermore, we will further optimize the product's environmental performance and intelligent control features based on European market demands, such as developing a remote fault diagnosis system suitable for European vessels to improve equipment operation and maintenance efficiency. As more "Made in China" marine engines enter the global market, they will provide more high-quality options for the green and low-carbon development of the global shipping industry, and promote higher-quality development of China's equipment manufacturing industry in the international market.
