Working Principle Of Diesel Engine

Nov 05, 2024

The working principle of diesel engine is based on the principle of compression ignition engine. Its core lies in combining the atomized fuel with high temperature and high pressure air to work, so as to convert the chemical energy in diesel into mechanical energy.
The main working process of diesel engine includes four strokes:
Intake stroke: the piston moves downward, the intake valve opens, and air enters the cylinder.
Compression stroke: the piston moves upward, the intake valve and exhaust valve close, the air is compressed, and the temperature and pressure rise.
Power stroke: the fuel injector sprays fuel, the fuel self-ignites under high temperature and high pressure, and generates explosive force to push the piston downward, and the crankshaft rotates to do work.
Exhaust stroke: the piston moves upward again, the exhaust valve opens, and the exhaust gas is discharged from the cylinder.
The structure of diesel engine includes the following main parts:
Cylinder: the location of the combustion chamber.
Piston: moves up and down in the cylinder to complete the four strokes of intake, compression, power and exhaust.
Crankshaft: converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into rotational motion.
‌Fuel system‌: includes the fuel injection pump and the fuel injection nozzle, which is responsible for injecting fuel into the cylinder.
‌Intake and exhaust system‌: responsible for the intake of air and the discharge of exhaust gas.
Through the coordinated work of these components, the diesel engine can efficiently convert chemical energy into mechanical energy and provide stable power output.
