Recently, Volvo Construction Machinery officially launched the upgraded D6D diesel engine, further solidifying its leading position in the mid-power diesel engine market with its superior power performance and excellent fuel economy.
The new Volvo D6D features an inline six-cylinder, four-stroke, water-cooled, turbocharged, intercooled design with a displacement of approximately 6.0 liters. It delivers a maximum power of 170 kW and a torque output of 950 Nm. Thanks to its advanced fuel injection system and optimized combustion chamber design, the D6D achieves a balance between power and environmental friendliness while ensuring strong power output and significantly improving fuel efficiency and reducing emissions.
The engine's structural design adheres to Volvo's consistently high manufacturing standards. A high-strength alloy steel crankshaft, wear-resistant cylinder block, and compact layout give the D6D exceptional reliability and ease of maintenance, enabling it to withstand harsh construction environments and long-term high-load operation.
Currently, the D6D diesel engine is widely used in Volvo EC210B and EC240B series excavators, L90F loaders, G930 graders, and other equipment, and has also been selected as a core power solution by many construction machinery and generator set manufacturers.
Industry experts say that the launch of the D6D not only completes Volvo's mid-power engine product line, but also demonstrates its continuous innovation in energy conservation, emission reduction, and power technology. As one of the representative works of Volvo Engineering Power, the D6D once again proves the brand's promise of "powerful, reliable, and environmentally friendly."
